The Premier League action have potentially saved the best till last, or at least joint-last this weekend with Manchester City taking on Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side are sitting in a familiar place having swept aside Southampton last weekend, a result which they followed with a resounding victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

They scored six in each of those games and in the latter did so without Sergio Aguero, who was rested, and he will be pushing for a comeback though Gabriel Jesus did all he could to stake his claim for a starting berth after scoring a hat-trick midweek.

However, Kevin De Bruyne remains unavailable, along with long term absentees Eliaquim Mangala and Claudio Bravo.

Aguero is favourite to open the scoring at 4.0 (3/1) with Sky Bet ahead of Riyad Mahrez, who after netting three in his last six outings is priced at 8.0 (7/1) with Unibet.

The home win is 1.4 (2/5) with Betfred, with the visitors as highly priced as the 8.5 (15/2) on offer from several bookmakers. The draw can be backed at 5.4 (22/5) with some firms.

Jose Mourinho’s side, despite all the furore have won their last three games by two goals to one, coming from behind to triumph in their last two.

They won at Bournemouth last weekend after trailing early though it is their win in Turin over Juventus that left many a jaw on the floor. It is perhaps worth remembering though that this is still Manchester United.

Romelu Lukaku may be involved after missing the last two games while Paul Pogba will be assessed ahead of kick-off after picking up a slight knock in training and Antonio Valencia is back in contention.

Anthony Martial, who is perhaps in the best form of his career is 14.0 (13/1) to get the first goal of the game with Paddy Power, ahead of 15.0 (14/1) chance Marcus Rashford.

United famously came from two-down at half time in last season’s corresponding fixture to win 3-2, four months after City had triumphed 2-1 at Old Trafford and you can back both teams to score this time around at 1.75 (3/4) with Coral while most companies offer 1.5 (1/2) for there to be three or more goals in the game.
