Sunday afternoon’s Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium sees champions Manchester City face fierce rivals Manchester United.

The hosts are without a win in their last three games in all competitions, and go into the game on the back of Wednesday evening’s shock defeat to Newcastle United in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup.

David Silva has been ruled out for up to a month after picking up a knee problem in that midweek loss though Yaya Toure, who also was injured against Newcastle, should recover in time to feature while Joe Hart could return in goal.

Sergio Aguero is widely available at 5.0 (4/1) to get the first goal of the game, ahead of Edin Dzeko, who is a 7.0 (6/1) chance with Ladbrokes.

City are favourites to take all three points at 1.95 (19/20) with Bet Victor, with United as highly priced as the 4.33 (10/3) on offer from Bet 365. The draw is a 3.8 (14/5) chance with a variety of bookmakers.

Louis van Gaal’s side are unbeaten in their last four matches, and go in to the match having salvaged a point with a last-ditch equaliser against league leaders Chelsea a week ago.

Captain Wayne Rooney is set to return from a three-match ban despite rumours that he may be injured, while Antonio Valencia is also in line for a recall after recovering from a hamstring problem though Radamel Falcao has been ruled out with a leg problem.

Van Persie is a 8.0 (7/1) shot to open the scoring with Bet Victor, who price Rooney at 9.0 (8/1).

Manuel Pellegrini’s men won both meetings between the sides last season by three clear goals, with United winning just one of the last five games against their neighbours.

With goals usually on the agenda here, you may be tempted to take advantage of Bet Victor’s offer of 2.6 (8/5) for there to be over 3.5 in the game.

Alternatively, you may prefer to back both teams to score, as has been the case in six of the last eight Manchester derbies, at 1.55 (11/20) with Ladbrokes.
