Premier League

All eyes will be on the Etihad Stadium on Thursday evening as leaders Liverpool take on champions Manchester City in what is the most anticipated Premier League match of the season so far.

After suffering shock defeats, first at home to Crystal Palace and then at Leicester City Pep Guardiola’s side returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory at Southampton on Sunday, a result that sees them seven points behind their opponents.

Ilkay Gundogan is set to return for the hosts and Kevin De Bruyne is back in training though Fabian Delph misses out through suspension and Benjamin Mendy remains sidelined.

Sergio Aguero, who scored his first goal in four league games at the weekend is favourite to net first here at 5.0 (4/1), with Raheem Sterling an 8.0 (7/1) chance.

City are favourites and can be backed at a widely available 2.05 (21/20) to take all three points with the visitors as highly priced as the 3.7 (27/10) on offer from Bet Victor. The draw is a 3.95 (56/19) shot with Unibet.

Jurgen Klopp’s side asserted their position at the top of the table with a comprehensive 5-1 win over Arsenal in Saturday’s late kick-off.

The Merseyside outfit are already odds on favourites to win the league at 1.62 (8/13), and price will certainly shorten if they can extend their lead to nine points, and ten over the Citizens with victory here.

James Milner could return after missing the last two games with a muscular problem while Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita are also pushing for recalls.

Mo Salah is 6.0 (5/1) to get the first goal of the game with most firms with Roberto Firmino – fresh from his hattrick last time out an 11.0 (10/1) chance.

The two sides met four times in all competitions last term, and while Liverpool won the last three the corresponding league fixture ended in a 5-0 triumph for Manchester City.

There were eighteen goals across those four games, so you may be tempted to back over 3.5 this time around at 2.63 (13/8) with Unibet while several companies offer 1.57 (4/7) for both teams to score.
