Boxing Day’s Premier League action concludes at the Etihad Stadium where third place Manchester City face leaders Liverpool.

The hosts will themselves move to the top of the table if they win and Arsenal fail to beat West Ham United at Upton Park earlier in the day.

City will be without top scorer Sergio Aguero, as well as defenders Micah Richards, Pablo Zabaletta and Matija Nastasic, while Stevan Jovetic may also miss out after missing Saturday’s win over Fulham through illness.

Alvaro Negredo is favourite to open the scoring at 6.0 (5/1) with Labrokes, with Edin Dzeko widely available at 6.5 (11/2).

The home win is 1.8 (4/5) with a variety of bookmakers, with Liverpool a 4.6 (18/5) shot with Bet 365, who have the draw on offer at 4.2 (16/5).

Brendan Rodgers’ men are currently ahead of second place Arsenal on goal difference, so need victory to guarantee remaining at the league’s summit while defeat could see them slip to fifth place, such is the tightness at the top of the division.

Jon Flanagan may miss out after picking up a hamstring injury in Saturday’s win over Cardiff City, while Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, Sebastien Coates and Daniel Sturridge all remain side-lined.

Top scorer Luis Suarez, who already has a record ten league goals in a calendar month, is 7.0 (6/1) with Ladbrokes to get the first goal of the game ahead of Raheem Sterling, who is 16.0 (15/1) with Bet Victor.

The two sides are by far the highest scoring sides in the English top flight, with no less than 93 goals between them so far this season while of the current top five, no teams have conceded more.

With this in mind, you may be tempted to back a goal fest, and Sporting Bet offer 3.8 (14/5) for there to be at least five scored in the game.

Alternatively, with each of the last three meetings between the sides ending 2-2, you may fancy betting on a repeat of that scoreline, which is priced at 14.0 (13/1) with Bet Victor.
