Manuel Pellegrini

Second in the league plays second bottom at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon as Premier League champions Manchester City host Burnley.

Manuel Pellegrini’s won at West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day – their ninth straight victory in all competitions and seventh in the league – a run which keeps them hot on the heels of league leaders Chelsea with a trip to Stamford Bridge scheduled for City next month.

Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Vincent Kompany and Matija Nastasic remain out, while Jose Pozo faces a late fitness test ahead of the game.

Yaya Toure is 6.0 (5/1) with Bet 365 to get the first goal of the game, with David Silva a 7.0 (6/1) chance with Bet Victor.

The home win is 1.18 (2/11) with a number of firms, with last season’s Championship runners-up as highly priced as the 21.0 (20/1) on offer from Betfair, who offer 8.5 (17/2) for the draw.

Despite showing encouraging signs in recent weeks, Sean Dyche’s men have taken just four points from the last fifteen available in the league, a run that has seen them slip to nineteenth place though they still have five points over bottom of the table Leicester City.

The Clarets have won just once on the road so far this season, and victory here could see them move as high as fifteenth place.

With no fresh injury concerns, the visitors could stick with the same side that were narrowly beaten by Liverpool on Friday afternoon, with Raheem Sterling’s goal just after the hour mark enough to separate the sides.

Top scorer Danny Ings is priced at 17.0 (16/1) with Bet 365 to open the scoring, with Ashley Barnes a 21.0 (20/1) chance with the same firm.

Oddly, there has been at least six goals in each of the last five meetings between the sides, so you may be tempted to take advantage of Bet Victor’s offer of 7.5 (13/2) for there to be over 5.5 this time around.

City have netted at least four in four of the last five clashes, and that outcome can be backed at 13.0 (12/1) with Coral while three of their last four home wins have come without them conceding, so the home win to nil at 1.83 (5/6) with Sky Bet is also worth considering.
