This weekend’s round of Premier League fashion kicks off at the Etihad Stadium as favourites for the title Manchester City face leaders Arsenal.

The hosts go into the game on the back of their magnificent come from behind victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz arena on Tuesday evening – a result which extended their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions.

Coach Manuel Pellegrini is expected to recall Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure to the starting line-up, all of whom sat out of the win at the Allianz Arena though Micah Richards has been ruled out with a muscle injury.

Top scorer Sergio Aguero is favourite to open the scoring at 5.5 (9/2) with Ladbrokes, ahead of 6.5 (11/2) shot Alvaro Negredo.

The home win is on offer at 1.85 (17/20) with Bet Victor, who have the draw at 3.9 (29/10) while Arsenal are as highly priced as the 4.7 (37/10) given by Sporting Bet.

The Gunners defeat in Naples on Wednesday evening was their first in six games, while their draw against Everton three days earlier extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points.

Bacary Sagna’s hamstring injury will be assessed ahead of the game, while Lukas Podolski has recovered from his hamstring problem and may make the substitutes bench though Ryo Miyaichi, Abou Diaby, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Yaya Sanogo all remain side-lined.

Olivier Giroud is widely available at 9.0 (8/1) to get the first goal of the game, with top scorer Aaron Ramsey a 13.0 (12/1) shot with a variety of firms.

Recent meetings between the sides have tended to be low scoring affairs, with there being fewer than three goals in each of the last seven ties.

Last season’s corresponding fixture ended 1-1 last September, while City ran out 2-0 winners at the Emirates Stadium back in January.

However, with the Sky Blues averaging over four goals a game in front of their own fans in the top flight the season, you may prefer to back a high scoring affair, and William Hill offer 2.75 (7/4) for there to be four or more combined strikes this time around.
