BBC Sport is reporting that Manchester City are on the verge of recruiting Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson from Benfica.
With Claudio Bravo failing to impress and Willy Caballero released from his contract, the Citizens were in the market for a new shot-stopper.
After watching Ederson Moraes on a number of occasions this season, Man City decided to step up their interest and they are reportedly set to make the 23-year-old the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.
The Citizens appear ready to spend heavily this summer and they have already secured the signature of former Monaco star Bernardo Silva for £43 million.
Man City will pay around £35 million for Ederson, while few more high-profile signings are expected to follow.
The heavy summer spending is probably the main reason why the Citizens have been made 9/4 favourites to lift the 2017/18 Premier League trophy.
