Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Sunday’s Premier League action concludes at Anfield where Liverpool take on Tottenham Hotspur.

Having lost back-to-back games for the first time in a year Liverpool thumped struggling Huddersfield Town on Tuesday evening – a result which saw them move above champions Chelsea on goal difference and to within three points of second place Manchester United.

Victory here would see them move five points clear of their opponents and therefore tighten their grip on a top four spot ahead of three games against sides in the bottom half of the table.

Adam Lallana is a doubt ahead of the game, with Jurgen Klopp keen for the midfielder not to aggravate a recent thigh problem while Virgil van Dijk could play after being rested midweek.

Top scorer Mo Salah is 5.3 (43/10) to get the first goal of the game with Unibet, ahead of Roberto Firmino who is 6.25 (21/4) with the same firm.

The home win is priced at 2.12 (28/25) with Unibet with the visitors as highly priced as the 3.6 (13/5) on offer from Betfred. The draw can be backed at 3.7 (27/10) with a number of firms.

This is the second game of a triple-header that sees Spurs face fellow top-six sides and they came through the first of those fixtures unscathed, easing past Manchester United at Wembley on Wednesday evening.

Victory here would see them leapfrog their opponents and move into the top four ahead of next weekend’s North London derby.

New signing Lucas Moura is unlikely to feature here as he hasn’t been able to train following his move from Paris Saint Germain though Serge Aurier, Harry Winks and Toby Alderweireld could all be involved after returning to training following their respective injuries.

Hary Kane is favourite to open the scoring with what would be his one hundredth Premier League goal at a widely available 5.0 (4/1), with Dele Alli an 11.0 (10/1) chance with Sky Bet.

Tottenham ran out 4-1 winners in the reverse fixture back in October while last seasons league clash on Merseyside ended in a 2-0 triumph for the Reds.

Both teams have scored in four of the last five meetings between the sides so you may be tempted to back that outcome here at 1.57 (4/7) with Betfair.
