LIverpool vs SwanseaLiverpool will be glad to take their minds off the disappointing Premier League campaign when they host Swansea in the Capital One Cup fourth round.

Meanwhile, the Swans are flying high in the league and they will attempt to pour more misery on their more illustrious opponents.

This season has had a pretty disappointing start for the Reds, who were unfortunate to have key striker Daniel Sturridge pick up a serious injury at a time when they are still trying to cope with Luis Suarez’s departure.

And with new signing Mario Balotelli largely struggling in the opening exchanges, nobody is surprised that Liverpool cannot seem to hit the ground running.

The Reds did show some improvement to record back to back wins over West Brom and QPR, but Champions League loss to Real Madrid acted as another serious blow to the players’ confidence.

Liverpool have since also failed to defeat Hull City at home, meaning odds of 1.75 (3/4) offered on home win are not too tempting.

Brendan Rodgers is widely expected to make changes ahead of the Capital One Cup clash against Swansea, with Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho likely to be recalled.

Daniel Sturridge,Mamadou Sakho and Jon Flanagan remain sidelined, while Glen Johnson and Lazar Markovic could play a part.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Mignolet – Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Enrique – Gerrard, Henderson – Markovic, Coutinho, Sterling – Lambert.

Swansea have enjoyed a genuine resurgence under Gary Monk and they have continued to impress in all competitions.

The Welsh side climbed to sixth in the Premiership standings as they defeated Leicester City to record the fourth victory of the campaign, and now go into the Liverpool clash full of confidence.

Swansea eliminated Rotheram and Everton to reach the Capital One Cup fourth round and can now be backed at 3.00 (2/1) to qualify for the quarter-finals.

The Swans have enjoyed mixed success on the road this season, defeating Manchester United and sharing spoils with Sunderland while losing to Chelsea and Stoke City.

Just like his Liverpool counterpart, Gary Monk is expected to make some changes, with key midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson unlikely to be risked.

Ashley Richards, Dwight Tiendalli and Jordi Amat are all injury doubts, while Leon Britton remains a long-term casualty.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Tremmel – Rangel, Fernandez, Williams, Taylor – Carroll, Shelvey – Dyer, Emnes, Monterro – Gomis.
