Daniel Sturridge

Having thumped title favourites Manchester City on their own back yard a week ago, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool host a Swansea City side who have won just one of their last ten games in all competitions.

The Reds, who followed that impressive victory at the Etihad Stadium with a triumph over Bordeaux in the Europa League on Thursday evening, have lost just one in fifteen while a win here would be their third in the league from four.

Daniel Sturridge will be assessed ahead of kick-off as he looks to make his first appearance since Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers in the Anfield dugout, while Lucas is suspended, Phillipe Coutinho is a doubt and captain Jordan Henderson is unlikely to be risked so soon after returning to training.

Christian Benteke is favourite to open the scoring, with most firms offering a price of 4.5 (7/2) while Roberto Firmino is a 6.5 (11/2) chance with Bet Victor.

The home win is widely available at 1.5 (1/2) with the visitors as highly priced as the 8.0 (7/1) on offer from Bet Victor. The draw can be backed at 4.55 (39/11) with 888 Sport.

Garry Monk’s men came from two goals down to salvage a point against Bournemouth last time out though the result left them just five points above the bottom three.

The South Wales side have no injury worries, though former Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey will miss out after picking up a fifth booking of the season last weekend.

Bafetimbi Gomis, who hasn’t scored since August, is 11.0 (10/1) to get the first goal of the game with Paddy Power while Andre Ayew is a 15.0 (14/1) chance with Betfair.

The Merseysiders are unbeaten in their last seven meetings with Swansea, winning last season’s corresponding fixture by four goals to one last December.

Both teams have scored in four of the last five clashes so you may be tempted to back that outcome this time around at 2.05 (21/20) with Bet Victor.

Alternatively, the same firm offer a price of 3.25 (9/4) for there to be four or more goals in the game, as there has been on five of the last eight occasions these two sides have faced each other.
