All eyes will be on Anfield in Sunday’s early Premier League kick off as English football’s two most successful teams of all time, Liverpool and Manchester United lock horns.

The hosts began the weekend in ninth place, and go into the weekend on the back of Wednesday evening’s thrilling 3-3 draw with leaders Arsenal.

The have lost just once in front of their own fans since August, and victory here would see them move level on points with their opponents.

Defender Dejan Lovren is closing in on a return to fitness but will once again miss out so Steven Caulker could be handed his first start if manager Jurgen Klopp decides against sticking Mamadou Sakho and or Kolo Toure at centre-back.

Daniel Sturridge remains side-lined along with Divock Origi, Philippe Coutinho, Martin Skrtel, Danny Ings and Joe Gomez.

Christian Benteke is priced at 7.0 (6/1) to open the scoring with Coral, with Roberto Firmini an 8.0 (7/1) chance with the same firm.

The home win is 2.38 (11/8) with William Hill, with the visitors as highly priced as the 3.5 (5/2) on offer from a variety of firms. The draw can be backed at 3.35 (40/17) with 888 Sport.

Like his opposite number, Louis van Gall oversaw a six-goal thriller in midweek with Paul Dummet’s last ditch strike denying the Red Devils of all three points from their trip to Newcastle United.

Midfield duo Bastian Schweinsteiger and Michael Carrick are both out, along with defender Phil Jones though he is closing in on a first team return following an ankle injury.

Captain Wayne Rooney, who has four goals in his last three games is 8.5 (15/2) to get the first goal of the game with Bet 365, with Jesse Lingard a 12.0 (11/1) chance with the same company.

United ran out 3-1 winners when the sides met at Old Trafford back in September – the fifth consecutive meeting between the sides which has produced at least three goals.

You can back there being over 2.5 this time at 2.25 (5/4) with Betfair while Coral offer 2.0 (1/1) for both teams to score.
