All eyes will be on Anfield on Sunday lunchtime when last season’s Premier League runners-up Liverpool host champions Manchester City.

The Reds seven game unbeaten run came to an end as they crashed out of the Europa League on penalties to Besiktas on Thursday evening though ten games without defeat in the league have seen them move to within two points of a top four spot.

Victory here would see them move to within seven points of City, who themselves are five points behind league leaders Chelsea.

Philippe Coutinho is set to be recalled by manager Brendan Rodgers after the Brazil international was rested midweek, though fellow midfielder Jordan Henderson is a doubt with an ankle problem.

Full-back Glen Johnson is set to return from illness, while Lazar Markovic is available after suspension.

Daniel Sturridge is 7.0 (6/1) to open the scoring with a number of firms, with Raheem Sterling a 7.5 (13/2) chance with Bet 365.

The home win is priced at 3.2 (11/5) with Betfred, with the visitors favourites at 2.55 (31/20) with Sporting Bet. The draw is a 3.6 (13/5) with Bet 365.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men have lost just one of their last seventeen league games, though they go into the game on the back of Tuesday evening’s 2-1 defeat to La Liga giants Barcelona.

Yaya Toure is set to feature after missing out midweek through suspension, while Wilfried Bony could make his first start after two substitute appearances.

Top scorer Sergio Aguero is 6.0 (5/1) to get the first goal of the game with William Hill, with Bony a 7.0 (6/1) shot with a number of firms.

City ran out 3-1 winners when the sides met in Manchester back in August, while last season’s corresponding fixture ended in a famous 3-2 win for the Merseyside club.

Both teams have scored in each of the last six clashes, so you may be tempted to back that outcome here at 1.66 (4/6) with Betfair.

Alternatively, as five of those last six games have featured at least four goals, you may want to bet on over 3.5 this time around at 3.0 (2/1) with William Hill.
