BBC Sport has learned that Liverpool have emerged as favourites to recruit Manchester City winger James Milner.
The England international has decided to leave the Citizens when his contract expires in June, and it is believed he is interested in moving to Anfield.
According to BBC Sport, Liverpool will start talks with Milner and his representatives some time this week.
The 29-year-old has spent last five years at the Etihad, and he has managed 19 goals and 45 assists in 203 Premier League appearances for the Citizens.
However, he never quite managed to nail down a regular starting berth at Manchester City and that is the main reason behind him wanting to leave.
The Reds will be hoping to fare much better than the previous season and they are 3.75 (11/4) with 888sport for a top 4 finish.
