Sunday’s Premier League action from the King Power stadium sees champions Leicester City take on in form Southampton.

Claudio Ranieri’s side began the weekend in twelfth place following last weekend’s defeat to Manchester United though they could be as low as seventeenth come kick-off, depending on Saturday’s results.

They do however go into the game on the back on a win having beat Porto 1-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday evening to make it two European triumphs from two.

Nampalys Mendys is available for the first time in a month while there could also be returns for Marcin Wasilewski, who has competed a three-game ban and Danny Simpson, who missed out midweek.

Jamie Vardy is favourite to open the scoring at 5.5 (9/2) with a variety of firms ahead of 6.5 (11/2) chance Islam Slimani.

The home win is widely available at 2.25 (5/4) with the visitors as highly priced as the 3.65 (45/17) with 888 Sport. The draw can be backed 3.40 (12/5).

Southampton are a point ahead of their opponents following their win at West Ham United on Sunday while they continued their unbeaten run with a goalless draw against Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the Europa League – their fifth consecutive clean sheet in all competitions.

Another three points here could see them move up a couple of places, with seventh place Crystal Palace drawing with Everton on Friday evening.

Manager Claude Puel could recall a number of his first team squad with Charlie Austin, Jose Fonte, Steven Davis and Ryan Bertrand among those pushing for starting berths.

Austin is 7.5 (13/2) to get the first goal of the game with Dusan Tadic an 11.0 (10/1) shot with Paddy Power.

A goal from captain Wes Morgan was enough to seal the points for the Foxes in last season’s corresponding fixture while the pair played out a 2-2 draw at St Mary’s twelve months ago.

A sixth straight Southampton clean sheet can be backed at 3.8 (14/5) with most companies offering 1.73 (8/11) for their to be fewer than three goals in the match.
