Everton vs ChelseaBuoyed by the great comeback against Stoke City, Leicester City will attempt to finally escape the Premier League danger zone.

Everton, on the other hand, hope to make amends for the last-gasp defeat in Merseyside derby, so it is not as if either side will lack motivation in Boxing Day clash.

Premier League champions Leicester City have found it hard to cope with the pressure of expectation, and their current campaign has been going from bad to worse.

Some 17 games into the new season, the Foxes sit mere two points above the bottom three, and they are desperate to show some improvement in recent weeks.

The impressive 4-2 triumph over Manchester City failed to provide the lift the team needed as they went on to lose to Bournemouth before salvaging one point at the Britannia Stadium.

That will feel as a point won considering that Leicester scored two late goals with ten men on the pitch to come back from a 2-0 down after Jamie Vardy had been sent off.

The striker is now banned for three matches as his suspension was upheld, while Robert Huth and Christian Fuchs are suspended as well.

Captain Daniel Drinkwater has served his ban, but he faces a fitness test as he has been battling a knee injury over the last few weeks.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Schmeichel – Simpson, Morgan, Wasilewski, Schlupp – King, Amartey – Gray, Mahrez, Albrighton – Slimani.

Everton may not have been as disappointing as their next opponents, but they, too, have struggled to live up to pre-season expectations.

The Toffees have been unable to find any sort of consistency and while the 2-1 victory over Arsenal was a step in the right direction, the team failed to built on that result.

Everton were then beaten at home by local rivals Liverpool, so it’s now back to the drawing board for manager Ronald Koeman.

And while the Toffees have shown some improvement at their Goodison Park, their away form has been quite disappointing, with four straight defeats on the bounce.

The match against severely weakened and out-of-form Leicester will feel as a good opportunity to end the barren run though.

Mohamed Besic and Yannick Bolasie continue to miss out, but James McCarthy and Maarten Stekelenburg should be back in contention.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Stekelenburg – Coleman, Williams, Jagielka, Baines – Gueye, Barry – Valencia, Barkley, Lennon – Lukaku.
