Jamie VardyEngland manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that star striker Jamie Vardy will be allowed to miss the friendly match against Australia.

The Leicester City forward is set to get married on Wednesday and he will be allowed extra rest, meaning he will miss the Friday’s clash against the Socceroos.

Vardy cancelled his wedding a year ago as he was called for international friendlies and he pushed it backwards from June due to the Euro 2016 finals.

And with the Premier League hotshot having scored in the 2-1 triumph over Turkey, Hodgson is happy to leave him out of the Australia game.

“Last year his wedding was planned during the month of June and I called him up for the international matches. I think he deserves that possibility to get married here,” Hodgson said.

Hodgson also spoke about Vardy’s status in the England squad.

“Jamie Vardy was playing for Fleetwood Town a few years ago. I am sure that if you said to him that you are going to play for England he’d have been happy to play centre-half or even goalkeeper.

“I don’t intend at the moment to play a system which suits Jamie Vardy and Vardy alone. But I don’t think his place in the team or the squad at the moment is under enormous threat.”

England kick off their Euro 2016 campaign against very good Russia side, but they can be backed at 2.10 (11/10) to start with a win.
