Jack Wilshire injuryArsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that star midfielder Jack Wilshire will undergo a minor surgery on his ankle at the end of the season.

The England international missed the entire last season through injury and has had a number of setbacks this term.

He is now set to undergo a minor surgery on his ankle, but Wenger believes his star player will join the team for pre-season tour of Asia.

“He will have small mild surgery after the season. At the moment Jack plays with painkillers and I use him only when it is really needed,” Wenger said.

“It is a very small, small, small one (operation), taking out a pin. It is a two to three weeks job. It will not be a problem.”

Wilshire is, therefore, set to miss England’s friendly games against Republic of Ireland and Brazil, but he should be fully fit for the start of the new season.

With Arsene Wenger set to splash the cash in the summer transfer window, there may be some value in odds of 3.25 (9/4) offered at Coral on Arsenal to win a trophy next season.
