Southampton gained only their second league win of the season at Loftus Road on Saturday, piling the pressure on Mark Hughes, whose Queens Park Rangers side sit rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.

Top scorer Rickie Lambert gave the visitors the lead before Jason Puncheon doubled his side’s advantage just before half time.

Junior Hoillet pulled one back for the hosts soon after the break but an own goal from Anton Ferdinand condemned Rangers to their eighth defeat of the season.

QPR are the only side in the top four divisions of English football yet to register a league win this season and are five points from safety, though reports suggest that following a two-hour meeting with Chief Executive Phillip Beard, Hughes will remain in charge.

However, the Welshman is the clear favourite to be the first Premier League managerial casualty of the season, with Sky Bet offering the best odds of 1.14 (1/7), while Bet Victor offer odds of 8.0 (7/1) that Hughes will still be in charge on the last day of the season.

After his side moved to just a point behind 17th place Reading at the weekend, Southampton boss Nigel Adkins is now priced at 13.0 (12/1) with Sky Bet to lose his job before any of his Premier League counterparts.

European Champions Chelsea extended their winless run to four league games following their 2-1 defeat at West Brom; a result which has seen Roberto Di Matteo become third favourite to lose his job at 17.0 (16/1), while fellow Italian Roberto Mancini is next in the list at 26.0 (25/1).

Manchester City, who returned to the top of the Premier League with a thumping 5-0 victory over Aston Villa, are the only side in England yet to taste defeat in the league, though their almost inevitable exit from the Champions League may seal their manager’s fate.

Sunderland’s Martin O’Neill is now priced at 41.0 (40/1) with Bet Victor securing a much need win at Fulham on Sunday, while Tottenham manager Andre Villas Boas is available at the same price following his sides defeat in the North London derby.
