Sunday’s Premier League action kicks off at Goodison Park with Everton facing Liverpool in the 225th Merseyside derby.

Roberto Martinez’s side are unbeaten in six, with their only defeat of the campaign so far coming at home to Manchester City back in August.

They go in to this clash with their fierce city rivals on the back Monday evening’s come-from-behind win at West Bromwich Albion, a result which saw them move into the top five and another win here could see them rise to as high as second depending on results elsewhere.

Seamus Coleman and John Stones could return though fellow defenders Leighton Baines and Tonyy Hibbert are out injured along with midfield trio Tom Cleverley, Muhamed Besic and Steven Piennar while Kevin Mirallas is suspended.

Romelu Lukaku is priced at 7.0 (6/1) to open the scoring with Sporting Bet, with Steven Naismith a 9.0 (8/1) chance with a variety of firms.

The home win is 2.8 (9/5) with William Hill, with the visitors available at the same price with the same firm. The draw can be backed at a widely available price of 3.4 (12/5).

Brendan Rodgers’ side began the weekend in ninth place having ended a four game winless league run with victory over Aston Villa last weekend, while they go in to this fixture on the back of Thursday evening’s 1-1 Europa League draw with Sion.

Christian Benteke faces a late fitness test ahead of the game having missed the last three with a hamstring problem while Dejan Lovren, Roberto Firmino, Jon Flanagan and captain Jordan Henderson are all out.

Benteke and Daniel Sturridge can each be backed at 7.0 (6/1) to get the first goal of the game with Bet Victor with Philippe Coutinho a 10.0 (9/1) shot with a number of bookmakers.

Both of last season’s Merseyside derbies ended all square, with the sides drawing 1-1 at Anfield last September before playing out a 0-0 at Goodison Park back in February.

In fact five of the last six clashes have been draws, so you may be tempted to back that outcome with both teams to score at 4.5 (7/2) with Bet Victor.
