Premier League Trophy

Unsurprisingly, the four favourites for the 2015/16 Premier League title are the last four sides to have lifted the trophy, but what are the chances of there being a first time winner next May?

Liverpool, who won the penultimate English top flight tile before the inception of the Premier League, are currently fifth in the market to finish in first place.

They ran then champions Manchester City extremely close in 2014, eventually finishing just two points behind Manual Pellegrini’s side though they didn’t do nearly as well last season.

The Reds failed to remain in the Champions League qualification places last year, falling to sixth place and having to contend with next season’s Europa League.

They have lost captain Steven Gerrard to the MLS and fellow England international’s Glen Johnson and Raheem Sterling, though they have brought in a whole host of new faces including Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton and Christian Benteke from Aston Villa, as they look to once again challenge for the championship.

Brendan Rodgers’ side can be backed at 29.0 (28/1) to win the league, ahead of Tottenham Hotspur who are a 151.0 (150/1) chance with Ladbrokes.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men finished two points and one place above Liverpool last season and will also play in Europe’s secondary competition, as they have done for the past four seasons.

Spurs, who last won the English championship in 1961 have boosted their defence this summer by bringing in Kieran Trippier, Kevin Wimmer and Toby Alderweireld, with a number of fringe players moving on to pastures new.

Everton, who secured their joint lowest finish in the last decade under Roberto Martinez last season, have no European football to distract them this year and can be backed at a best price of 301.0 (300/1) to be crowned the best in the land for the first time in twenty-nine years while Southampton are available at the same price.

The Saints finished seventh last season, and will play in the Europa League providing they get through their third qualifying round tie against Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem.

Paddy Power offer a price of 21.0 (20/1) for there to be a first time winner of the Premier League in May 2016 while Chelsea remain favourites at 2.62 (13/8) with Coral.
