Tom CleverleyManchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has said in no uncertain terms that he wants to remain with Aston Villa beyond the current season.

The England international joined the Villans on a season-long loan last summer and quickly developed into an important player for the club.

Cleverley went on to start 29 Premier League fixtures, scoring three goals and helping Aston Villa virtually secure Premier League survival.

And with his contract at Manchester United set to expire in the summer, the 25-year-old is hoping to sign a permanent deal with the Villans.

“I’ve really got to like playing for this club in the last few months,” Cleverley told reporters. “This manager, you have to give him credit for getting me where I am over the last few weeks.

“I feel like I’m playing in my best position. Confidence is high, not only among myself but also among the team. All those factors help. I’m happy and playing with a smile on my face.

“First the club have got to offer me something and then I’ll definitely have a look.”

Aston Villa moved four points clear of the bottom three with a narrow win over West Ham and are now available at 5.00 (4/1) PP to defeat Southampton at St Mary’s.
