Bottom of the table Sunderland take their battle for survival to Stamford Bridge in Saturday’s late kick-off in the Premier League to face a Chelsea side looking for three points that will see them return to the top of the table.

The hosts go in to the game on the back of three straight wins in all competitions, culminating in last week’s narrow victory at Swansea City, where Demba Ba continued his recent resurgence in front of goal with his match-winning 68th minute strike.

The Blues currently sit two points behind leaders Liverpool, who travel to Norwich on Sunday afternoon, with Jose Mourinho’s men set to travel to Anfield next weekend in what will potentially be a title showdown.

Top scorer Eden Hazard will miss out with a calf-injury that may even see him side-lined for Tuesday evening’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Atletico Madrid.

Samuel Eto’o is favourite to open the scoring at 4.4 (17/5) with Bet Victor, while Demba Ba and Fernando Torres can each be backed at 5.5 (9/2) with Bet 365.

The home win is widely available at 1.22 (2/9) with Sunderland as highly priced as the 17.0 (16/1) on offer from Bet 365, who have the draw at 7.5 (13/2).

Gus Poyet’s side are rooted to the bottom of the league, though they did manage to end a run of five straight by holding high flying Manchester City to a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening.

They are however without a league win since they thumped fierce rivals Newcastle United 3-0 on February 1st and defeat here could see them end the weekend as many as nine points from safety with just four games to play.

The Black Cats starting line-up is likely to be unchanged, with Phil Bardsley still suspended and joined on the side-lines by Ki Sung-Yeung, who has tendonitis.

Former Chelsea man Fabio Borini is 19.0 (18/1) to get the first goal of the game with a variety of firms, ahead of Connor Wickham, who is a 21.0 (20/1) shot following his midweek brace.

Chelsea edged past Sunderland in a seven-goal thriller at the Stadium of Light in the reverse league fixture back in December – two weeks before the Mackems beat the Blues in extra-time on route to the League Cup final.

Both teams have scored in nine of the last eleven meetings between the sides, so you may be tempted to back Sky Bet’s offer of 2.38 (11/8) for them to do so this time around.
