Chelsea

All eyes will be on Stamford Bridge Saturday lunchtime as Chelsea host Manchester United in the opening game of matchday nine in the Premier League.

The hosts are unbeaten since their Community Shield defeat to Manchester City, and it is only the Citizens who are above them in the league by virtue of goal difference.

Anything other than defeat here will be enough to see Maurizio Sarri’s side, if only temporarily return to the top of the division with City and third place Liverpool playing later in the day.

Antony Rudiger should recover from a groin problem in time to maintain his ever-present league record this term and Ross Barkley is available though Ethan Ampadu is out of contention after injuring his knee on international duty.

Eden Hazard, who is the division’s top scorer with seven so far this season is favourite to get the first goal of the game at 5.0 (4/1) with several firms, with Willian an 8.0 (7/1) chance with Sky Bet.

The home win is widely available at 1.73 (8/11) with the visitors as highly priced as the 5.5 (9/2) on offer from some bookmakers. The draw can be backed at 4.05 (58/19) with Unibet.

Jose Mourinho’s side looked to be heading for another shock defeat at home to Newcastle United last time out only for goals from Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez to turn the game on its head.

Another win here would see them move to within two points of the top four ahead of the weekend’s other fixtures while several sides are hot on their heels should they slip up.

The game will most probably come to soon for Jesse Lingard who is closing in on recovery from a groin issue and Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic, Marouane Fellaini, Scott McTominay and Diogo Dalot will be assed ahead of kick-off though Ander Herrera is available.

Romelu Lukaku is 9.0 (8/1) to open the scoring against his former club ahead of 13.0 (12/1) chance Paul Pogba.

One goal was enough for the Blues, both when these sides last met at Stamford Bridge and in the FA Cup final so you may be tempted to back a one-nil home win at 8.5 (15/2) with Bet Victor.
