MkhitaryanLondon-based club have already starting preparations for the next season, eager to bounce back from a disappointing campaign in the Premier League.

The Blues have failed to defend their domestic title in a season which will see the Stamford Bridge outfit stay without a place in European competitions.

Guus Hiddink was brought to replace underachieving Jose Mourinho, but Roman Abramovich made a deal with Antonio Conte who is to lead the new wave and take Chelsea into the new adventures following the 2016 European Championship finals in France.

Former Juventus boss will take the helm this summer with the club actively working on new transfers already.

German media outlet Bild is suggesting that one of the main summer transfer targets for Chelsea will be Borussia Dortmund’s playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The 27-year-old has been the mainstay in Thomas Tuchel’s team this season, making 49 appearances this season.

Talented playmaker is under contract with BVB until 2017 and Chelsea have already tried to lure him away from Germany last season with an offer worth €60 million and Bild suggests that Blues are eager to return with a much more lucrative bid in attempt to land the Armenian international.

Chelsea football club want to make Mkhitaryan the key man in midfield and are aware they will face a difficult task in attracting a player who is playing Champions League football next season for a Blues team who will not be in Europe next year.

Landing Mkhitaryan would be a major coup for soon-to-be Antonio Conte’s side as BVB playmaker has scored 23 goals and managed 29 assists for Dortmund this campaign.

The Armanian scored the third goal in a 3-0 away win over Stuttgart this weekend and is likely to play a crucial role in their upcoming duel against Wolfsburg next Saturday.

Dortmund are standing at 1.44 (4/9) @PaddyPower to claim the maximum three points versus the Wolves.
