Calum Chambers EnglandArsenal defender Calum Chambers has been promoted to England squad as Everton starlet John Stones was forced to withdraw through injury.

The Toffees stopper was one of just three central defenders to be named in the Three Lions squad to face San Marino and Estonia, but he is now set to miss out.

Stones injured his ankle in the weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford, with Roberto Martinez suggesting the defender would miss “the next few weeks”.

England boss Roy Hodgson earlier revealed that he would call Calum Chambers in case of any withdrawals and the Arsenal full-back was subsequently promoted from the Under-21 side.

This basically means that Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka are almost certain to start the Thursday’s qualifier against San Marino, where the Three Lions are 1.05 (1/20) for a half-time/full-time win.

There have been no other worries for manager Roy Hodgson, while Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw should be fit for the Under-21 duty despite suffering a dead leg at the weekend.
