Cardiff City vs Manchester United Preview

Saturday’s Premier League action concludes at the Cardiff City Stadium where Cardiff City take on Manchester United.

The south-Wales side have been in good form in front of their own fans winning four of their last five home games, though it is their away record which is a cause for concern.

Defeat here could see them slip into the relegation zone should other results also go against them though victory could see them rise as high as fourteenth.

Joe Bennet is likely to miss the game, with the left-back not training all week due to a hip problem while manager Neil Warnock has also said a couple of unnamed players are nursing knocks.

Callum Patterson is 12.0 (11/1) to get the first goal of the fame, with Bobby Reid a 13.0 (12/1) chance with some firms.

The home win is as highly priced as the 6.5 (11/2) on offer from Betfair, with the visitors favourites at 1.62 (8/13) with some firms. The draw can be backed at a widely available at 4.2 (16/5).

Defeat at leaders Liverpool last weekend saw the Red Devils fall twenty-two points behind their fierce north-west rivals, and that proved to be the final straw for United’s board who relieved Jose Mourinho of his duties after months of speculation regarding his position.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stepped into the breach until the end of the season, and he would love nothing more that to begin his tenure with a victory at the home of the club who sacked him in September 2014.

Romelu Lukaku will miss the game after reportedly being given compassionate leave while Chris Smalling is a doubt after picking up an injury in the warm-up at Liverpool and Alexis Sanchez remains out with a hamstring problem.

Marcus Rashford is 6.5 (11/2) to open the scoring with Bet Victor, with Jesse Lingard an 8.5 (9/2) chance with the same firm.

With Cardiff solid at home, and their opponents having kept just two clean sheets in the league all season you may be tempted to take advantage of the 1.87 (20/23) on offer from some firms for both teams to score in the game.
