Wayne RooneyChampions League finalists Bayern Munich have moved to reject speculations linking them with a summer move for Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney.

Retiring United manager Sir Alex Ferguson recently revealed the England international had asked to leave the club in the summer, although new boss David Moyes is hoping to convince him to stay.

Meanwhile, Bayern sporting director Matthias Sammer has ruled out making a summer bid for Wayne Rooney.

“There is no contact and he’s not on the agenda. No, no. Absolutely not,” Sammer told reporters at Wembley.

“I don’t know what Rooney would bring to the Bundesliga. I can’t answer that. I can answer that we have great respect for Wayne Rooney but there has been no contact with him.”

Nevertheless, Bayern remain 2.50 (3/2) faviourites at Paddy Power to sign Rooney this summer, with Chelsea priced at 3.40 (12/5).

Free-spending Paris Saint-Germain are 4.00 (3/1), while Real Madrid look a good bet at 17.00 (16/1). Los Blancos are planning a major summer overhaul and nobody would be surprised if they make a move on the Manchester United star.
