Bafe GomisFrench forward Bafetimbi Gomis has been cleared to return to training, a week after fainting during a Premier League match, BBC Sport has learned.

The 29-year-old collapsed during the game against Tottenham Hotspur on 4th March and was immediately taken to hospital.

Gomis had already fainted three times while playing in French Ligue 1 and he explained the reason behind the latest incident via his Twitter account.

“I have been under a great deal of stress and fatigue due to my father’s health that requires me to go back and forth to France.”

Swansea have now confirmed Gomis has been back in training, but it remains to be seen whether he will be in contention for Monday’s match against Liverpool, where Swans are 4.10 (31/10) to emerge victorious.

The former Lyon star has become a first choice striker at Liberty Stadium after Wilfried Bony had left to join Manchester City.

He has so far scored mere two goals in 24 league appearances, while netting three times in domestic Cup competitions.
