Aston Villa Vs Everton Betting Preview

Saturday’s game at Villa Park sees Everton, fresh from their impressive victory against last season’s runners-up Manchester United; visit Aston Villa in Paul Lambert’s first home game in charge.

This is actually the most played fixture in England’s top flight, with Villa winning 72 times to Everton’s 70 from their past 194 meetings.

The home side go into the game having lost their opening fixture at West Ham United last weekend; a Kevin Nolan goal being enough to give the Hammer’s victory, and stretch Viila’s winless run to eleven league games.

Even more worrying for Paul Lambert’s side is that in more than half of those games, the Villains have failed to score, suggesting that the acquisition of more firepower could well be on the new manager’s priority list with just under a week to go until the transfer window slams shut.

Darren Bent is however set to make his 300th career league start, and is 6.0 (5/1) with most firms to open the scoring, though forward Gabriel Agbonlahor , centre back Richard Dunne and midfielder Marc Albrighton are all side-lined through injury.

With the home side so out of form, it is perhaps unsurprising that they go in to this fixture as underdogs; William Hill offering the best price of 3.10 (21/10). The draw is available at around 3.0 (2/1) across the board with Everton favourites for the victory at a best price of 2.50 (6/4) on offer from Ladbrokes.

That victory against Manchester United was the first time Everton have picked up all three points on the opening weekend in five years, as well as being their first clean sheet in week one since 1998.

Monday’s match-winner Marouane Fellaini is 4.0 (3/1) with Bodog to get on the score sheet again here, whilst fellow countryman Kevin Mirallas, who could well make his debut, is the same price with Paddy Power.

David Moyes only injury concerns are the doubts over defender Sylvain Distin and striker Nikica Jelavic, who will face late fitness tests ahead of the game.

Elsewhere in the market, as three of the past five meetings between these two sides have finished 2-2, and you might be tempted to back that score line at 19.0 (18/1) with Bet Victor.
