Aston Villa vs Bolton preview

Aston Villa can virtually ensure Premiership survival with three points from this match, whereas Bolton also need to try and record a victory seeing they are now four points adrift of safety.

This season hasn’t gone as planned for the Villains and it now appears the club fans were right in protesting against Alex Mcleish’s appointment.

Instead of stabilizing the team and keeping them in the top half of the table, Big Eck has utterly failed to get the maximum out of his players, which is why Villa now sit just five points above the relegation zone.

The Villains were lucky not to slip further down after winning just one of their last twelve Premier League fixtures, but they now have a great opportunity to make amends for the poor run of results and virtually ensure survival.

That may not be so easy to do following the run of just one victory in last 11 home games, but you should know Villa are 2.00 (1/1) with Sportingbet to claim maximum points.

James Collins and Gabriel Agbonlahor are both injury doubts, but Ciaran Clark is expected to be back in contention.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Given – Hutton, Cuellar, Collins, Lichaj – Albrighton, Herd, Ireland, N’Zogbia – Agbonlahor, Weimann.

After boosting their survival hopes with three straight victories, Bolton have suffered a new dip in form that threatens to get them relegated to the Championship.

Following back to back defeats to Fulham and Newcastle, the Trotters could only pick up one point from their home game against Swansea, and are now four points adrift of safety.

Owen Coyle’s side do have two games in hand, but they will need to start winning soon if they are to catch their relegation rivals.

While beating Wolves at Molineux, Bolton have lost five of last six games on the travels, and failed to score a single goal in those five matches.

Taking that into account and a somewhat difficult fixture list, odds of 1.62 (5/8) offered by 888sport on Bolton to go down do look tempting.

Midfielders Mark Davies and Darren Pratley are doubtful for this game, whereas Fabrice Muamba, Ricardo Gardner, Stuart Holden and Chung-Yong Lee remain long-term casualties.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-1-1): Bogdan – Steinsson, Wheater, Ream, Ricketts – Eagles, M. Davies, Reo-Coker, Petrov – Miyaichi – K. Davies.
