Arsenal vs Sunderland Preview

Tuesday evening’s Premier League action kicks off at the Emirates Stadium where fifth place Arsenal take on a Sunderland side already condemned to relegation.

The Gunners are still in the hunt for a Champions League qualification place and have both Manchester City and Liverpool in their sights.

Victory here would put them just a point behind Jurgen Klopp’s side going into the final round of fixtures while they will move level with fourth place City, should they lose against West Bromwich Albion in Tuesday’s other fixture.

Alexis Sanchez will miss out after suffering a kick to the thigh in Saturday’s win over Stoke City while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also sidelined and Laurent Koscielny is doubtful with a calf injury.

Olivier Giroud is 4.33 (10/3) to get the first goal of the game with Sky Bet with Theo Walcott a 5.5 (9/2) chance with Paddy Power.

The home win is highly favoured by the bookmakers, with most offering 1.11 (1/9) while the visitors are as highly priced as the 29.0 (28/1) with Bet 365 who have the draw at 13.0 (12/1).

The Black Cats have won just of their last twelve games and anything other than three points here will all but confirm a twentieth place finish, regardless of what happens in their visit to champions Chelsea on Sunday.

There are doubts over the fitness of Jason Denayer, Victor Anichebe and George Honeyman with all three unlikely to feature.
In what could well be his penultimate outing for David Moyes’ side, Jermaine Defoe is 13.0 (12/1) to open the scoring with Fabio Borini a 23.0 (22/1) chance with Bet 365.

Defoe scored from the spot when the sides met at the Stadium of Light back in October though braces from both Sanchez and Giroud wrapped up the points for Arsene Wenger’s men.

You can back the North London side to score four or more this time around at 21/20 (2.05) with a variety of firms, while an Arsenal win not to nil is available at a price of 2.63 (13/8) with Bet 365.
