Arsenal vs Manchester City Preview

Thursday night’s Premier League action comes from the Emirates Stadium where Arsenal face Manchester City.

The two sides met just four days ago when Pep Guadiola’s side eased to a 3-0 victory to clinch the EFL Cup – the first in what is expected to be a long line of major honors won in England by the Spaniard.

The result was the Gunners’ fourth defeat in their last six games, and the two losses in that run have left them stranded in sixth place – ten points behind rivals Tottenham Hotspur who sit in fourth.

Defeat here would further damage their chances of finishing in the Champions League qualification places, though they are currently third favourites to win the Europa League ahead of next week’s clash with AC Milan – the first leg of their last sixteen tie.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to return for Arsene Wenger’s side after being cup-tied at the weekend though Nacho Monreal may miss out after being forced off with a back problem at Wembley.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is priced at 6.75 (23/4) to open the scoring with Unibet, with Mesut Ozil a 12.5 (23/2) chance with the same firm.

The home win is as highly priced as the 4.6 (18/5) on offer from Betfred, with the visitors favourites at 1.8 (4/5) with Coral. The draw is widely available at 4.2 (16/5).

The league leaders can reestablish a sixteen point gap between themselves and rivals Manchester United if they secure what would be an eighth win in ten games in all competitions.

Fernandinho is out after suffering a hamstring injury on Sunday while Raheem Sterling is unlikely to be risked and Fabian Delph is suspended.

Sergio Aguero, who has scored in his last five appearances against Arsenal is favourite to open the scoring at 4.5 (7/2) with most firms with Gabriel Jesus a 5.5 (9/2) shot with William Hill.

Seven of the past eight clashes between these two sides have produced at least three goals so you may be tempted to back that to happen this time around at a price of 1.53 (8/15) with Sky Bet.
