adebayorFormer Arsenal and Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is closing on a move to the Arabian Gulf League, French news outlet L’Equipe reports.

The 32-year-old Togo international has been without a club ever since leaving Crystal Palace in June after a disappointing spell, but is now reportedly near to signing a deal with Dubai-based side Al-Wasl.

The Togo captain has made Crystal Palace his fourth Premier League club in January, but struggled to secure his place in the first-team, ultimately leaving the club after only a couple of months with one goal on his tally.

Adebayor subsequently saw his summer move to French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon fall through when he was accused of smoking cigarettes and asking for a shot of whiskey in his coffee during a meeting with Lyon over an August move.

The player himself denied the allegations made by the French media and spent the last couple of months as a free agent working on his fitness with a personal trainer.

The experienced striker is now believed to be on the verge of securing a move with Al-Wasl, who currently sit fifth in the Arabian Gulf League, after three games in the new season.

United Arab Emirates transfer window closes at midnight on Thursday and Emmanuel Adebayor has little time to make his final decision.

Despite spending the great part of his professional career in the Premier League, Emmanuel Adebayor remains known for his notoriety rather than for his playing qualities.

Arsenal club legend Ian Wright has labelled the Togo international as the biggest disappointment of Arsene Wenger’s 20-year reign at the club.

Adebayor played for Gunners between 2006 and 2009, making 104 Premier League appearances and scoring 46 goals for the club.

When talking about Arsenal, the Gunners are coming off from a compelling Champions League win over Ludogorets and will look to keep the momentum going as they head into the Premier League clash with Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Gunners are given the betting odds 1.85 (17/20) @Coral to claim a HT/FT win at the weekend.
