Premier League club Crystal Palace have made a strong statement on Monday by announcing former Dutch international star Frank De Boer has been appointed new club manager.

The former Ajax, Barcelona and Rangers player arrives at Selhurst Park boasting an impressive player pedigree.

The 47-year-old former defender played 112 competitive matches for the Netherlands, taking part in two World Cup campaigns and three European Championships.

His managerial career has thus far had two completely different chapters, with Dutch giants Ajax and Serie A powerhouse Inter Milan.

Frank De Boer guided Ajax to four successive league titles and was lauded to installing an attractive attack oriented brand of football. His move to Italy at the beginning of the 2016/17 season turned sour after only three months in charge.

Having arrived to a club struggling to get back to glory days for a while, De Boer was met with unrealistic expectations and with little understanding to his managerial process. The Italians ended up sacking the Dutchman who failed to instill his tactical ideas and imprint his football vision on the team.

Crystal Palace management has not been discouraged by De Boer’s humble experience in Italy and has moved on to praise the former Dutch international.

“Fantastically exciting for this football club, an amazing milestone for us. I am excited to work with him and what we can achieve with the club.”, Crystal Palace chairman, Steve Parish, said on the press conference.

Frank De Boer now fill the vacuum left by Sam Allardyce who surprisingly decided to step down at the end of May, after guiding the Eagles to safety.
