oscar de marcosPremier League club Chelsea are thought to be eyeing a £30 million swoop for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Oscar De Marcos.

Spanish media outlet El Desmarque reveal that Blues have already made enquires over the 27-year-old’s availability in attempt to seal a January move to Stamford Bridge.

The Spanish international can operate both in midfield and at full-back, which makes him a valuable, versatile asset Antonio Conte is keen to add to his Chelsea squad.

Chelsea have had a decent start to their new Premier League season under former Italy head coach, but a couple of poor performances against high-profile opposition have exposed weaknesses Antonio Conte is keen to mend during the forthcoming transfer window.

The Italian is believed not to be entirely happy with the squad currently at his disposal and has agreed with club owner Roman Abramovich to make additional signings when the year turns.

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has been identified as the primary transfer target, but Oscar De Marcos is also believed to be high on the January wish list as Chelsea look to revamp their team in order to challenge for honours.

Several departures and arrivals are expected during winter and Oscar De Marcos could be one of the new faces at Stamford Bridge in January.

Spain international De Marcos has been a key figure for Athletic Bilbao ever since making his debut for La Liga outfit in 2009 and Basque club are unlikely to let their star man, whose contract has three and a half years to run, leave on the cheap.

Chelsea bounced back from the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal with a 2-0 win over Hull City and are due to play Premier League champions Leicester City next in the league.

Blues are given the betting odds of 1.62 (8/13) @WilliamHill to collect three points from their meeting with the Foxes.
