Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has told that the German giants are continuing to back manager Niko Kovac.

The Croatian was only appointed at the club in the summer following Jupp Heynckes’ third spell in charge, signing a three-year contract in the process. Despite enjoying plenty of success with Eintracht Frankfurt, Kovac has come under pressure extremely quickly following under-par performances in the Bundesliga.

The reigning champions are currently sitting fifth in the table, already seven points behind early pace setters Borussia Dortmund after their 3-2 defeat to their great rivals at the weekend. They have also only won two out of their last seven games.

Despite that, Hoeness has confirmed that Kovac is not going to be sacked any time soon. Talking to Sky Sport, the Bayern president said: “Our manager is out of the question.

“Our team is in very good condition. The team does not play for the coach, but for Bayern Munich and they do it well.

“I am less depressed today than I was after the defeat against Gladbach [last month].”

Despite the gap between themselves and Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table, Bayern are still favourites to win the league at the end of the season. They can be backed at 4/5 with Paddy Power to win the Bundesliga.
