Barcelona to sign Ajax goalkeeper as Bravo replacement

CillessenLa Liga champions Barcelona are understood to have agreed a deal to sign Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen as a replacement for Claudio Bravo, according to reports from Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona’s first-choice shot stopper has been given thumbs up for a move to Premier League club Manchester City, where he will join former Catalan manager Pep Guardiola.

Former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has raised plenty of eyebrows in England with his decision to drop Joe Hart and England international is now on verge leaving the Etihad as fell out of favour with the new boss.

And with Claudio Bravo all but agreed a deal to move to the Premier League, Dutch international Cillessen is expected to arrive at Camp Nou in the forthcoming days in order to finalise a move reportedly worth around £12 million.

The 27-year-old Netherlands keeper has been with Ajax since 2011 and his move from NEC. He was a mainstay for Dutch giants last season having made 33 Eredivisie performances in the 2015-16 season.

The reports suggest that Ajax could pounce for Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul as a replacement for Cillessen.

Ajax goalkeeper is expected to be immediately placed between the sticks for the Catalans as Barcelona’s second-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is still struggling with injury.

Barcelona are getting ready for a trip to San Mames in the second round of the new La Liga season next weekend.

The Catalans are looking at the odds of 1.48 (10/21) @Ladbrokes to grab another three points after their comprehensive 6-2 victory over Real Betis at the La Liga opening.
