Spanish giants FC Barcelona have reportedly opened negotiations over a potential move for VfB Stuttgart defender Benjamin Pavard according to reports.

As per Gianluca Di Marzio, the Spanish giants have met with agents of the Frenchman over his signature. There is not yet any indication over whether a fee has been agreed for the defender. Meanwhile, Pavard is also reportedly attracting interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Napoli.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a stark rise in the past few years. Breaking through the academy at LOSC Lille, he made the switch to the Bundesliga in 2016. Since then, he has gone on to make 71 appearances for Stuttgart.

He has also become a key cog in the French national team, going on to make 18 appearances for Les Blues. He played in every game but one at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and scored a memorable strike as Didier Deschamps’ men won their second crown.

Despite that, he has missed the last three games for Stuttgart through injury.

Bayern Munich are the favourites to sign Pavard in January and can be backed at 2/1 with BetVictor. Barcelona meanwhile are available at a price of 16/1 to swoop for the French defender by the end of the winter transfer window.
