According to reports in Germany, Italian giants AS Roma are interested in bringing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl to the Stadio Olimpico on-loan.

Bild report that Eusebio Di Francesco is aiming to sign the German on an 18-month loan in January after he fell out of favour under Lucien Favre. Weigl signed for the club from 1860 Munich in July 2015 and has gone on to make 133 appearances for the current Bundesliga leaders in all competitions since.

However, he has found opportunities much harder to come by during the 2018/19 campaign. The 23-year-old has only made seven appearances in all competitions with only two of those being starts in the Bundesliga. In his last six league games, he has only managed to play for 45 minutes.

He has also been linked with a move to Unai Emery’s Arsenal in recent times.

Weigl’s current club Borussia Dortmund have a tough test this weekend as they take on Schalke 04 in the Revierderby on Saturday afternoon. Despite being seven points clear at the top of the table and being 19 points clear of their great rivals in the table, Dortmund can be backed at 6/5 to earn victory with Betfred. Schalke are available at a price of 23/10 to take maximum points.
