Ligue 1 strugglers AS Monaco have agreed deals in principal for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas and former Real Madrid defender Pepe, according to reports.

According to Gianluca di Marzio, the duo are set to join the French outfit in the coming days, with further suggestions implying that Fabregas has already agreed a three-year deal.

The Spanish midfielder reportedly played his last game for Chelsea on Saturday afternoon as the Blues beat Championship outfit 2-0 in the FA Cup Third Round at Stamford Bridge. Elsewhere, Pepe has been without a club since his release from Besiktas in December. There were reports that the 35-year-old was close to a return to FC Porto, but that now appears to be unlikely.

Meanwhile, AS Monaco have struggled in the league so far this season and currently sit in 19th and four points away from safety in Ligue 1 under Thierry Henry, hence their desperate scramble for new signings. They have only won four games in all competitions so far throughout 2018/19.

The 2016/17 French champions have already made moves in the transfer market by securing the signature of Brazilian defender Naldo from Schalke.

Now 34 points behind Ligue 1 leaders PSG, Monaco’s title hopes are pretty much non-existent. Despite that, they can still be backed at 250/1 with William Hill to somehow win the title this season.
