The north London club Arsenal have commenced a rebuilding process under current manager Arsene Wenger which starts from the bottom up.

Having already secured the signature of Sven Mislintat from Borussia Dortmund as the club’s new head of recruitment, Arsenal have made another important step towards strengthening their backroom staff.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo today reported that Barcelona director of football Raul Sanllehi has left the Catalan club and is on his way to London where he’s going to be announced at Arsenal as part of the restructuring of the club’s scouting and recruitment sections.

The 48-year-old Sanllehi has been a vital figure in Barcelona’s major signing such as Luis Suarez and Neymar and is expected to help Arsenal bring in top-class footballers in the future. The experienced football figure spent 15 years at Camp Nou, serving under different directors and working closely with different team managers.

Sanllehi is replacing Dick Law who resigned from his position as Arsenal transfer negotiator earlier in September after failing to secure renewals for Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

His arrival will force Arsene Wenger to rethink his stance on club structure as Frenchman is an old-school manager who feels a director of football position is redundant in a football club.

He has constantly rejected offers for help in transfer management whereas he was quoted saying he ‘didn’t’ understand what a director of football does’ earlier this year.

Arsenal play Huddersfield on Wednesday night and can be found at 1.91 (10/11) betting odds to win to nil.
